Diresco switches to sustainable transport via inland navigation

12.09.2025

Diresco, Limburg-based producer of composite panels, is making the switch to sustainable transport and opts for inland shipping. Through this modal shift, the company from Oudsbergen saves around 8,000 road kilometers and 9.5 tons of CO2.

With decades of experience in mineral composite, Diresco continues to build a strong future. The company from Oudsbergen produces high-quality surfaces for interior and exterior applications and invests in sustainable innovations – both in product development and in logistics.

Sustainable supply chain
Diresco is switching to sustainable transport and no longer transports its containers filled with mineral composite by road, but by water. The company made the move after a successful business case developed by Multimodaal.Vlaanderen with the support of POM Limburg.

Part of the containers are loaded onto inland vessels in Antwerp, which transport them via the Albert Canal to Port of Limburg in Genk. The final leg of the journey to Oudsbergen is completed by truck.

Fewer traffic jams, lower emissions
The modal shift is expected to result in a saving of 8,080 road kilometers per year. This will reduce congestion on the E313 and significantly decrease the environmental impact. Diresco’s modal shift leads to a saving of 9.5 tons of CO2.
