POM Limburg and partners organise sixth successful edition of energy conference
More than 150 participants gathered at Thor Park for the sixth edition of Energy Mission, a conference organised by EnergyVille, Flux50, Sirris/Agoria and POM Limburg, among others. This edition focused on making the energy system more sustainable and the crucial role that strategic energy partnerships play in this.
The first edition of Energy Mission took place in 2020, marking the start of a cross-sector journey to accelerate the energy transition. Previous editions showcased solutions and financial opportunities for the built environment, industry and electrification, as well as cross-border infrastructures and value chains. Governments, knowledge institutions, companies and citizens come together to work with other changemakers on a more sustainable energy system.
Energy solutions
Energy Mission kicked off with a powerful keynote speech by Koen Schoors, professor of economics at Ghent University.
‘Energy is a basic requirement for businesses. The faster, and above all the smarter, we commit to the energy transition, the cheaper it will become,’ Professor Schoors emphasised during his presentation.
The day was filled with pitches, break-outs and round-table discussions with concrete practical examples, while participants got to work in three parallel thematic tracks focusing on business parks, energy communities and regulations.
‘AI accelerates energy solutions, but it is people who connect, build trust and make collaboration successful,’ said Inge de Waard, AI expert at InnoEnergy, during the closing keynote speech.
Speed dates
That connection was also palpable during the networking moments. New this year was the possibility to schedule speed dates with other participants via the Conversation Starter networking platform. The result? More than 200 one-on-one conversations, a clear sign that the energy to collaborate is alive and well in Flanders.
