Health Campus Limburg strengthens international position in San Francisco

15.01.2026

SAN FRANCISCO – On 12 January, Health Campus Limburg DC organised its own panel for the third time during the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference, the world’s most influential investor forum for healthcare. With Biovia as a new co-host, Health Campus Limburg underscores its role within the Flemish life sciences ecosystem.

The panel is organised in partnership with Biovia, law firm Sidley, and with the support of Flanders Investment & Trade, and focuses on international collaboration and scaling within biotech, medtech and digital health.

“Anyone who wants to make an impact in the life sciences today must think beyond borders, and Limburg is helping to carry the strong Flemish life sciences ecosystem,” says Tom Vandeput, Deputy for Economy and Chair of POM Limburg. “With Biovia as a partner, at J.P. Morgan we combine scientific expertise, digital innovation and a strong international network. Together, we connect ecosystems internationally to strengthen the crucial life sciences sector.”

Where capital and innovation meet
From 12 to 15 January, the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference brings together thousands of CEOs, investors and policymakers in San Francisco. For biotech, medtech and digital health, the event is regarded as a crucial crossroads where investment decisions and strategic collaborations take shape.

For Health Campus Limburg, a presence at that crossroads is essential. “Innovation does not stop at research or clinical validation,” says campus manager Roeland Buckinx. “The real challenge lies in scaling and international market access. At this conference, we speak with the people who make that step possible. In this way, we position Flanders as a gateway to Europe, with strong clinical expertise, and offer our companies an international forum.”

Europe as a solid foundation for global growth
Under the title Connecting Clusters of Excellence: Europe as Your Gateway to Global Success, the panel highlights how European ecosystems can leverage their scientific and clinical strengths in an international context. International connections are crucial for the growth of innovative life sciences companies, as they tap into the strengths of different continents. One of the key thematic focuses is women’s health, a domain that long remained underfunded but is now attracting increasing attention from investors and innovators.

For Biovia as well, the panel is about acceleration through collaboration. “By bringing European, American and Asian players around one table, we shorten the distance between science and application,” says CEO Ann Van Gysel. “In this way, we ensure that scientific breakthroughs also effectively find their way to the market.”
