Health Campus Limburg DC builds international opportunities for Limburg’s life sciences ecosystem
In early July, Health Campus Limburg DC renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with Osaka Bio Headquarters in Osaka, Japan. In doing so, both partners once again confirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the Belgian and Japanese healthcare and life sciences ecosystems.
The foundation for the collaboration was laid in December 2022, during the Belgian Princely Mission to Japan led by Princess Astrid. At the time, Health Campus Limburg DC entered into a cooperation agreement with Osaka Bio Headquarters, the life sciences network organisation of the Japanese prefecture of Osaka. For the Health Campus, it was its first international collaboration.
International cooperation
With the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding, Health Campus Limburg DC and Osaka Bio Headquarters are continuing their collaboration. It is intended to create opportunities for innovation, knowledge exchange and international growth, thereby further strengthening ties between the Belgian and Japanese ecosystems.
SwiftPharma to Osaka
A concrete example of what this collaboration delivers is SwiftPharma, an innovative company from the Limburg ecosystem. Through the collaboration between POM Limburg, Health Campus Limburg DC and the partners in Osaka, the company came to the attention of JETRO – Japan External Trade Organization, a Japanese government organisation that promotes trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.
JETRO selected SwiftPharma for the HealthX Connect Osaka startup programme. This gives the company the opportunity to build valuable connections within the Japanese healthcare ecosystem and gain access to a new international market.
SwiftPharma’s participation thus demonstrates in concrete terms how long-term international collaboration can help innovative Limburg companies explore new markets and build international partnerships.
