Oudsbergen puts industrial land back on the market

22.10.2024

The municipality of Oudsbergen and POM Limburg relaunch a call for the sale of two industrial land plots in Opglabbeek. This renewed call follows a previous procedure that failed to provide sufficient guarantees for quality employment.

Focus on high-quality employment

“During the first offering, interest came mainly from logistics project developers,” explains An Knoops, alderman for local economy. “Although we value the logistics sector, we aim for a more diverse and high-quality use of this strategic location.” The new sales procedure sets higher employment standards. “Interested parties must demonstrate the creation of at least 16 full-time jobs per hectare, aiming for a total of approximately 320 new jobs.”

Strategic expansion
The expansion includes two plots with a total area of 20 hectares. Deputy for Economy and POM Limburg chairman Tom Vandeput adds: “This expansion is crucial for the economic development of our region. We are targeting one or two major players who can provide significant added value. Sustainability is one of the new criteria, where both the sustainable nature of the building and the proposed use by the end-user will be assessed.”

Interested parties can submit their applications until December 13, 2024, at 12:00 PM. Knoops states: “A candidate buyer can purchase one plot of at least 14.5 hectares. If they meet all requirements regarding employment and land use, they may also purchase both plots, with a total area of 20 hectares. However, if only one plot is sold, a new procedure will be launched later for the remaining 5 hectares. Full information and conditions are available at www.oudsbergen.be.”
