Einstein Telescope technology Experts ready to bring knowledge to businesses

POM Limburg bridges the gap between research and industry trough Interreg project

The train-the-trainer sessions of the ETpathfinder Smart Skills Lab (ETPSSL), an Interreg Flanders–the Netherlands project, have been successfully completed. Eleven ET technology experts strengthened their industrial skills and learned how to apply their technological expertise in a broader industrial and economic context. In doing so, POM Limburg and its project partners are taking another step towards accelerating the transfer of innovative technologies to industry.

Research for the Einstein Telescope generates groundbreaking technological insights with significant potential for industry. However, these innovations do not always find their way smoothly to businesses. The ETpathfinder Smart Skills Lab (ETPFSSL) in Maastricht, an Interreg Flanders–Netherlands project, aims to change that. Through the project, POM Limburg and its partners are strengthening the flow of knowledge to industry.

Train-the-trainer sessions
The first train-the-trainer sessions of the ETpathfinder Smart Skills Lab took place from 26 June to 3 July. During the programme, eleven ET technology experts prepared for their role as a bridge between science and industry. They strengthened their ability to translate scientific and technological knowledge into concrete applications for companies and prepared for their role in an industrial context. In doing so, they learn how to support companies with technological challenges, identify innovation opportunities and strengthen cooperation between Flanders and the Netherlands.

In the next phase, they will translate this expertise into a practice-oriented training programme for industry.

Training provided by knowledge partners
The training consisted of eight modules, each delivered by one of the educational and knowledge partners involved in the project. SyntraPXL, UCLL, KU Leuven and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences covered topics including Smart Maintenance, co-development, IP management and open innovation, standardisation and Operational Excellence. In this way, the ET technology experts acquired the knowledge and skills needed to translate technological innovations into business practice more quickly.

Workshops

This project is being carried out under the Interreg Flanders–Netherlands programme and receives more than €2 million in European funding. ETPFSSL is implemented by seventeen project partners from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, including POM Limburg.
